How to make your Google Fonts GDPR compliant with Bunny Fonts
You must be running uSkinned Site Builder 5.2.0 or above to use this functionality.
Bunny Fonts is an open-source, privacy-first web font platform designed to put privacy back into the internet — don't worry, it's free to use!
With a zero-tracking and no-logging policy, Bunny Fonts helps you stay fully GDPR compliant and puts your users' personal data into their own hands. Additionally, you can enjoy lightning-fast load times thanks to bunny.net's global CDN network to help improve SEO and deliver a better user experience.
Simply put: they do not track or monitor the end-user in any way or form.
Why are we providing this option?
According to GDPR, an IP address is personal information which can be used for identifying the user. Thus, Google Fonts violates GDPR by collecting and sharing personal information with third-party services without user consent.
Step 1
On your local machine, locate the root ~/ directory of your website.
Step 2
Open the file appsettings.json in your preferred IDE e.g. Visual Studio Code, Visual Studio or even Text Edit.
Step 3
At around line 63, locate this code:
"GoogleFontSource": "fonts.googleapis.com"
Step 4
Update this code to:
"GoogleFontSource": "fonts.bunny.net"
Step 5
Now run your solution and choose a Google Font in the Visual Designer.
If this was an upgrade and you already had a Google Font set in your Theme Design, you don't need to reselect it, go to your Theme Design and hit Save and Publish to activate GDPR-compliant Google Fonts.
